Khalimah Poole is an educator, licensed professional counselor, and human resources leader. She is an adjunct professor, the founder of a nonprofit organization dedicated to youth mental health and development, and the CEO of a behavioral health group practice providing Intensive In-Community services to children and families.



Through her work in education and mental health, Khalimah has seen how safe schools, strong family partnerships, student wellness, educator support, and access to meaningful opportunities can shape a child’s future. She is committed to listening, collaborating, and bringing a thoughtful and responsive voice focused on Carteret students and families to the Board of Education.

Every student deserves high-quality instruction, strong academic foundations, appropriate classroom resources, and meaningful opportunities to learn and grow. Supporting student success also means ensuring educators have the resources, professional development, and respectful collaboration they need to help students thrive and prepare for college, careers, and life.

Promote school environments where students feel physically and psychologically safe, emotionally supported, respected, included, and ready to learn. Support appropriate attention to student mental health, wellness, and school climate.

Family Partnership and Communication

Promote school environments where every student feels physically and emotionally safe, respected, included, and ready to learn. Support clear safety practices, emergency preparedness, bullying prevention, a positive school climate, and accessible, age-appropriate mental health and wellness resources so students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Foster open, timely, and coordinated communication among schools, families, educators, administrators, and the wider Carteret community, so concerns are identified early, families remain informed, and students receive consistent support.

Transparency, Accountability, and Responsive Leadership

Champion transparent, responsible, and student-centered decision-making that uses district resources wisely and keeps the community informed. Advocate for accountable leadership that listens to and responds to students, families, and educators, and follows through with clear communication and measurable results.

I want to help shape a school district where students feel secure and can thrive academically and emotionally, educators feel valued and equipped, families are informed and engaged, and Carteret residents have a trusted and responsive voice in decisions affecting our children.
